Mitsubishi Big: Not Only in Japan

In a press release yesterday from Cypress, California, Mitsubishi Motors North America released their end of year sales report.  In total, Mitsubshi Motors North America sold 95,342 vehicles, up 22.8 percent over the previous year of 2014.  This is the best yearly sales since 2008.  Mitsubishi even ended the year strong with a month that continued their historic streak of 22 consecutive months of year over year sales increase.

In a press release Don Swearingen, MMNA Executive Vice President said:

“2015 was a monumental year for Mitsubishi Motors in many ways: we reported sales increases every month over the prior year, our dealer network has strengthened and we successfully launched the new 2016 Outlander. Most importantly, we’re poised to repeat our success in 2016.” “Mitsubishi’s strategy for the U.S. is all about crossover SUVs and the launch of the 2017 Mirage G4. In 2015 both Outlander and Outlander Sport showed strong demand at dealerships and posted total sales of 5,292, up 37.4 percent over the previous year.”

“The support of our dealers, along with a very strong showroom of revamped product offerings will propel us into the new year; Mitsubishi’s sales momentum will continue strong through 2016 and beyond,” said Swearingen.

The volume leader of the Mitsubishi brand is the Mitsubishi Outlander and the Outlander Sport.  The newly designed Outlander was up 76.6 percent from December 2014 with 1,936 units sold in 2015.  The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport also had a 21.8 percent increase year over year.  With the new design of the Mitsubishi Outlander selling so well, Mitsubishi expects that the newly design Lancer and Outlander Sport hitting the lots in the first quarter will also increase sales year over year for 2016.  With all this great news from Mitsubishi, we at Jim Shorkey can’t wait for the new 2016 Mitsubishi Lancers and Outlander Sports to hit our lots.
