Your not Seeing things, That Mirage is a Sedan!

Mirage G4, 2017 Mirage

Mitsubishi scored a huge win with its latest generation of the Mirage.  With its smaller engine, spacious interior, and clean styling, the Mirage teaches you that being small can be a good thing. The Mirage is pound for pound a one of the best cars on the market.  It has a reputation for being a money saver with one of the best miles per gallon for a vehicle that is not a hybrid.  The Mitsubishi Mirage’s sales success led to the additional expansion of a sedan based model.  We here at Jim Shorkey are happy to announce we have the 2017 Mitsubishi G4 Sedan. The G4 Sedan is unique from the Hatchback model but keeps the traits that makes the Mirage loved.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 is a four-door sedan version of the pre-existing Mirage hatchback.  All 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage models will get a revamp no matter hatchback or sedan.  The sedan obviously gains a trunk, the G4 sports all of the upgrades made to the Mirage sedan for 2017, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.  Switching to a four-door sedan body changes the styling, and at the other end there’s a designed a sedan-specific front fascia.  The G4 sedan is already sold in a bunch of other markets as either the Mirage G4 or the Attrage, and Mitsubishi decided this was the year to bring the sedan to North America for some time.

Mirage Sedan, Mitsubishi sedan, Mitsubishi Mirage, Mirage,

The Mitsubishi G4 Mirage offers the same 1.2-liter, three-cylinder engine as the Mirage hatchback. While driving you should expect it to produce the same 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet torque, and for the same five-speed manual and CVT automatic transmission options to be on tap. What the Mirage lacks in power it makes up for in fuel economy: the last hatchback model to be EPA certified got 40 mpg combined, making it the most efficient non-hybrid car sold in the U.S. The Sedan will get 37 mpg

The interior should be pretty similar to the Mirage hatchback, which gets a new steering wheel and seat materials as part of its 2017 refresh. Like the hatchback, the Mirage G4 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 300-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system from the five-door may be offered on the sedan as well.

Vehicle Setup

  1. Press the speech button on the steering wheel. It displays the image of a head with speech lines coming from the mouth.  Wait for the beep.
  2. After the beep, say “Setup.” The vehicle will list several options through the audio system at this point. Wait until it has completed the list and beeps again.
  3. Say “Pairing options.” Again, the vehicle will list options like list phones, select phone and pair a new phone. Wait for the beep.
  4. Say “Pair.” The Outlander will dictate instructions, and ask you for a four-digit PINcode.
  5. Say ANY four-digit pin code. You will use this PIN code on your phone right away to complete the pairing procedure.

Phone Setup

  1. From the “Settings” menu, select Bluetooth.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled, or set to “On.”
  3. Start a search on your phone for new devices.
  4. Once detected, “Hands-Free System” or a similar name will display. Select it.
  5.  Enter the four-digit PIN number you selected previously. In some cases, the PIN number will display and you will only need to confirm that is it correct.

Suv bound

Mitsubishi will bring five new Suvs to market in Europe and other regions by 2021.  It is an attempt to reposition itself as a brand specializing in 4X4’s.  With this news many fans are speculating that popular hatchback vehicles like the Mirage will come to the end around this time.

Jim Shorkey, Mitsubishi, Suv,

Each Suv’s will be in their different automotive section segments.  In order of size, smallest to biggest:

A small B-SUV (i.e. Juke/Captur sized), previewed by the yellow eX concept revealed at the 2015 Tokyo motor show and making its European debut at the 2016 Geneva show. Name still to be confirmed

A mid-sized SUV slightly larger than the ASX, and previewed by 2013’s XR-PHEV II concept. We’ll see the production version, rumored to be called the Outlander Sport, in 2017.  Replacement for the current Outlander, due in 2018

The Shogun Sport, a large SUV already on sale in Australian and Asian markets as the Pajero Sport, with a 2.4-liter diesel engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox and built on the same platform as the L200 pickup truck in Thailand. Overseas it’s a five-seater, but UK versions will seat seven.

Jim Shorkey, Suv, new car

The replacement full-size Shogun, likely to be the last of the quintet to reach production. Like the current Shogun, it will be built on an entirely different platform from the rest of Mitsubishi’s models.

If Mitsubishi’s going to become an SUV brand, where does that leave the small Mirage supermini?  Mitsubishi is developing a new mirage next year available as a pure EV.  This will give it an obvious link with Mitsubishi’s other goal of having more electric cars is future areas.

Jack Frost is Coming, Are you Ready for Him?

If you look outside it might surprise you that today is the first day of Winter.  Usually at this time of year, it is frozen tundra, but this year, we got lucky. But I’m afraid we’ve got some bad news.  Usually when we get milder weather in December it means January and February will be brutal with snow and ice. But, with mild weather, you can start to winterize your car before Jack Frost makes his appearance Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi has some steps that will ease you into the coming Winter weather.

Jack Frost, Jim Shorkey

  1. Wash Your Car

Wash Car, Jim Shorkey, Winterproof

To combat the icy roads we put down salt and soot to help with traction.  Sure, it gets us where we are going but it can do a number on our cars.  Before the first snow hits, you will want to wash your car.  Washing your car before Winter will remove all the dry mud that was caked on.  Mud can hurt the paint if it has been dried on for a long time.  In addition to the wash, add some wax to give your car the needed protection of the harsh Winter.

  1. Add a Battery Charger in Your Car

Jim Shorkey, electric, winterproof

Snowy weather puts your engine under more strain, which in turn means the battery is working harder.  Obviously if it is working harder that means more juice is being used.  This means the battery can run flat, quicker than usual.  Therefore, a battery charger is a good idea. These chargers clip onto your battery’s negative and positive terminals to give you an extra boost.

  1. Check Your Cars Liquids

Car Liquids, Jim Shorkey, Mitsubishi

Nothing sounds more unpleasant than popping your hood on a freezing day.  Be preemptive and check you coolant, oil and anti-freeze.  Or you can come down to the Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi Fast Lane and we can do it for you.  You will want to have a half and half mix of coolant and water in your radiator.  The right mix will allow the water to stay as a liquid well below freezing point.  With engine oil you will want everything running smooth in the engine.

  1. Get New Wiper Blades and Refill Wiper Fluid

Jim Shorkey, Wiper blades,

Snow visibility can be rough, the wipers can smear and actually make your window even worse.  With wiper fluid that can level the playing field.  New wipers can reduce smear as well.

  1. Keep Your Gas at Least Half a Tank

Half a tank, Jim Shorkey, Gas

We aren’t worried about running gas while your driving, we are concerned about your car starting.  Low and changing temperatures can cause condensation to occur inside your gas tank which, when mixed with the fuel, could freeze as it makes its merry way along the fuel lines.

  1. Have a Good Ice Scrapper

Ice Scrapper, Jim Shorkey, Mitsubishi

This one is pretty obvious.  Having a good ice scrapper can go a long way.  You want to get the ice off your car as fast and possible.

  1. Keep an Emergency Kit in the Car

Rescue kit, Jim Shorkey, Mitsubishi

You may find you self in a situation where your car wont start. It’s always a good idea to be prepared.  An emergency kit could be a life saver.  An emergency kit consists of items like engine oil, spare wiper blades, tire pump, jumper cables, salt, blankets and other useful items.

  1. Getting Winter Tires

Jim Shorkey, Mitsubishi, snow tires

Buying winter tires is the best way to fight against snowy conditions.  A good set can last for multiple winters and improve your car’s ability to drive on slippery surroundings.  Winter tires are game changers and many experts say that a 4X2 with winter tires are better in snow than 4X4 with regular tires.
