The New Mirage and Yes You Are Seeing Things

When the Mitsubishi Mirage was first released many had stereotypes that the Mirage was small and underwhelming.  Overtime customers changed that perception to now being one of the most loyal vehicles in the US.  The new Mitsubishi just hit the ground and they have done even more improvements for the consumer.  When driving the new Mirage and noticed things changed for the better.

Mitsubishi, Jim Shorkey Mirage, Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi,

The first thing that I noticed when I got into the Mirage was the new cloth that the Mirage gained.  It is much softer and less synthetic than the previous models.  The size of the cabin kept its amazing space that only Japanese manufactures have seem to conquer.  It’s so roomie.  The front dash has changed to a cleaner heating and cooling unit and gives you a feeling of sitting back more than previous models.  The suspension, tires and breaks are the same ,but the engine is the difference to the vehicle.  The newly redesigned engine gives you 4 more horse power.  It might not sound like much but with the new speed it improves acceleration.  Older models felt sluggish on acceleration when you pushed the gas pedal, with the engine improved the car is one of the most well balanced vehicles we have seen.  It keeps its impressive MPG with it averaging about 40 miles per gallon.  It inherits Mitsubishi’s industry’s best 100,000 mile warranty.  The 2017 is an upgrade that anyone would love.

Our Favorite Places to Drive the Mitsubishi Mirage around Pittsburgh and North Huntingdon

With an EPA-estimated 40 mpg when combined with the available continuously variable transmission (CVT) and an impressively low base price, you’ll most likely want to drive your new Mirage all over Western PA. We recently scooped out the best spots!

Fat Head’s Saloon
fat-heads-saloon-n60242346101-1951391-7587_28_550x370
Located in Pittsburgh’s South Side—an area notorious for limited street parking—Fat Head’s Saloon is a craft beer brewery with a massive menu. In the Mirage, you can easily maneuver into that one cramped spot that SUVs and mid-size sedans have to pass up. So while your friends are making laps around the building or paying to park in a garage, you’ll be chowing down on some appetizers.

The University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning

And while you’re over in the South Side, you can hop onto the Birmingham Bridge and head over to Oakland to visit the Cathedral of Learning. Whether you want to check out the Nationality Rooms or simply take in the cathedral’s grandeur, you won’t have to worry about the narrow lanes in Oakland or parallel parking on the street. With the Mirage’s subcompact frame, the odds of you sideswiping mirrors as you hunt for a spot is slim to none.

Fort Ligonier
Fort-Ligonier-118
From Pittsburgh, you’ll want to hop on the turnpike and head east to Fort Ligonier—a British fort in the French and Indian War. And since you’re already paying tolls, you’ll be happy to save gas money in your Mirage. Once you arrive, you can explore the museum galleries, exhibits, and extensive archaeological collections. You can also tour the impressive Fort, a full-scale, on-site restoration/reconstruction of the 1758 – 1766 original. The Fort Ligonier town itself is about 15 acres, while the restored Fort is about 8—making you happy you drove the Mirage so that you don’t have to walk.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater
new_first
The Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece, located within the wooded Bear Run Nature Reserve, is a monument to organic architecture at its best. This must-see construction is about a 45-mile drive from Fort Ligonier, so you’ll need the Mirage’s fuel economy, which is the best of any non-hybrid vehicle. And a bonus: after you return from your hike through the Reserve, you’ll have no trouble spotting your brightly colored Mirage in the crowded parking lot!

Safe travels!

Gas Prices Won’t Be Cheap Forever

With the current decrease of gas prices over the past month; dropping from $3.54 to over a whole dollar currently. It makes you wonder how long will these gas prices stay; the national average for gas is $2.20 but if you know the economy well you know it will not last forever. The gas prices will eventually rise and go back to the $3.50 plus dollars per gallon everyone hated just a month ago.

As Americans we are always looking to save that extra penny to use it elsewhere, and for now it may be affordable to fill up your nice SUV for a little bit cheaper than before, but what about the future? Eventually gas prices will sky rocket again and you shall be another person complaining how they have to put tons of money in their gas tanks weekly; so why not make a change now? With the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage you can plan for a smarter and fund efficient future.

The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage is a great way to start thinking about the future and also how to save that extra penny. The Mirage was named 2014s Best All-Around performance award according to the Automotive Science Group, due to its fuel efficiency. The Mirage gets a whopping 40 miles to the gallon along with a 37 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway. This car is awesome for those who have to worry about traffic leaving from home to work and work to home. The average American wastes over $700 annually while sitting in traffic, depending on how major the city is of course. So why not save yourself the money in the long run?

Now some people may not want to buy brand new cars just too only save gas it sounds ironic right? You dish out a bunch of money into a brand new car but then again cars are expensive. Not the Mitsubishi Mirage; the Mirage is Cars.com most affordable car of the year and the third cheapest car on the market today. So if you really care about the future, saving money, planning your child’s future or you just love small cars. This is a car that does not pretend to be something it is not and it will be beneficial for you. Than you should not hesitate to look at 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage; think smarter and plan smarter for a better future.

Pittsburgh: Why the Mitsubishi Mirage Belongs on Your Shopping List

When other cars and SUVS are gulping gas, the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage is merely sipping it. With the best gasoline-mileage rating in the US, this car is priced less than an average used car.

Mitsubishi Mirage, Mirage Pittsburgh, Mitsubishi Pittsburgh

The Mirage is rated by the federal government at 40 miles-per-gallon in combined city/highway travel. Specifically, the five-seat Mirage with good-sized cargo room of 17.2 cubic feet behind the seats earned a city rating of 37 mpg, while the highway rating is 44 mpg. These numbers are higher than the mileage ratings for many smaller-size cars that have just two seats, such as the Smart fortwo and the Mazda MX-5 Miata.

And the Mirage’s starting price won’t make a dent in your wallet either. It’s the third lowest-priced new car in the US market, with the lowest starting retail price in the $14,000s. In comparison with the Mirage retail prices, the average retail price of a used vehicle in the United States this year is more than $17,000.

So shoppers looking at used cars for inexpensive transportation might want to add a new Mirage with electronic stability control, antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution, frontal and side air bags, and a driver’s knee airbag to the shopping list.

The Mitsubishi Mirage: Inspiring Creativity with Every Turn

The new Mitsubishi R5 rally car is based on none other than the Mitsubishi Mirage road car! Ralliart has developed the R5—the same high-performance division they used to build and oversee the running of Mitsubishi’s all-conquering Evo World Rally Cars—which means it has plenty of pedigree.

Mitsubishi_R5_rallycarMitsubishi Mirage, Mirage Pittsburgh, Mirage North Huntingdon

This Mirage knockoff has been designed for competition in what’s called the WRC2 championship. The WRC2 is open to production-based cars, including vehicles built to the R5 class rules, hence the Mitsubishi name.

Chief engineer Tomas Weng of Mpart AB (the official name for Ralliart Sweden) has worked his magic creating the R5. It’s powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor limited by an air restrictor to 276bhp (280PS) and 354lb ft of torque. This is sent to all four-wheels via a five-speed Sadev sequential gearbox.

“A great deal of thought has gone into the design and development of this car. We have kept it as simple and efficient as possible and have used as many Mitsubishi parts as we can,” said Weng.

“We are confident this will make the car straightforward to maintain and has enabled us to offer it at a competitive price. So far customer enquiries have exceeded our expectations and confirmed sales have already reached double figures.”

If this new car is a success for Mitsubishi, then we might just see a return to top level rallying. Move over, Subaru…

At Jim Shorkey Mitsubishi, we are beyond excited to be a major player in these efforts. Without both our new and returning customers of North Huntingdon, Pittsburgh, and all of Western PA, we could never contribute to this goal. THANK YOU!

And maintaining its position as the best-selling vehicle in the Mitsubishi Motors varied product lineup, the American-made Outlander Sport sales totaled 2,351 vehicles – the best all-time September sales month for the stylish 5-passenger compact crossover/SUV. Outlander Sport sales are up 28.3 percent over the sales total from September 2013.
